Behind the poster
About Pluto.
Pluto is smaller than our Moon, a dwarf planet in the Kuiper Belt far beyond Neptune. Clyde Tombaugh discovered it in 1930 from photographs taken at Lowell Observatory in Arizona, and it was reclassified as a dwarf planet in 2006.
In July 2015, NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft flew past and found a bright, heart-shaped region about 1,600 km across, now named Tombaugh Regio. Its western half is a vast plain of frozen nitrogen. Elsewhere, mountains of water ice rise as high as the Rockies.
Pluto’s orbit is so stretched that for about 20 years of every 248-year trip around the Sun, it comes closer to the Sun than Neptune does. The last time was from 1979 to 1999. Even through a large backyard telescope, it shows only as a faint point of light.

The Date Print
Want your own date?
Every date has its own arrangement. This is today’s.
Which format should I pick?
Framed comes ready to hang, with the frame matched to the artwork. Frameless is a premium matte print for your own frame. Digital download is a high-resolution file you print yourself. Whichever format you choose, we recommend the 12×18 size.
Sizes and colors
Four sizes: 8×10, 11×14, 12×18 and 16×20 inches. Two looks: black (a deep night sky) or white (a clean, light sheet). On framed pieces the frame matches the artwork.
Collecting more than one?
Every poster in the series shares the same layout and lettering, so any two or more hang together as a set. Choose the same size and color for each and they line up on the wall. See all nine worlds.
